A two storey extension provides substantial additional living space but requires a more detailed design and approval process. Due to the increased scale, structural impact, and planning considerations, this type of project involves more drawings, calculations, and coordination, and therefore typically takes longer to complete.
Our process begins with a site visit to assess the existing structure, foundations, and surrounding context. At this stage, we identify the structural and design work required and review any planning constraints that may affect the proposal. Using the information gathered, we prepare detailed architectural & structural drawings and structural calculations.
Once completed, the drawings and calculations are submitted to you for review. Any changes to the agreed design will require revisions. Revisions involve additional work, and amended projects are placed back into the workflow queue, which may affect overall timescales.
After finalising all documentation, the full package is submitted to the local planning authority and/or building control for review and approval. We know this process can feel overwhelming, especially for first-time home owners, which is why we’ve developed The Paddick Process, a clear, structured approach to guide you confidently through every stage.
