1. Introduction and Scope
Welcome to Paddick Engineering Limited (“Paddick Engineering”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). We are a professional structural engineering consultancy providing reliable, high quality engineering services to both domestic and commercial clients (“you”, “the Customer”).
We deliver structural engineering services directly through our qualified and experienced engineers. Our work is carried out with a focus on clarity, technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and professional service throughout every stage of your project.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all services provided by Paddick Engineering Limited.
Our services may include, but are not limited to:
Structural site visits and inspections
Structural calculations and analysis
Structural reports
Structural drawings and design details
Architectural design and planning drawings
Engineering input for planning applications
Engineering support for Building Control approval
Site surveys and measurements
Civil engineering design (including drainage and groundwork design)
Preparation and submission of planning and Building Regulation applications
Professional engineering advice and documentation
Consultancy for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
Support with removal of load-bearing walls and internal layout changes
New build, extension, loft conversion, garage conversion and renovation design
By accepting a quote or instructing us to proceed with works, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
We believe in transparent and honest communication. These Terms are designed to clearly explain our responsibilities and your rights, whether you are a homeowner or a business client. Certain provisions may apply differently to consumers and business customers, and this is highlighted where relevant.

2. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms:
Company / We / Us:
Refers to Paddick Engineering Limited, a UK registered limited company.
Customer / You:
The individual or business engaging Paddick Engineering Limited to provide engineering services.
Services:
The engineering services provided directly by Paddick Engineering Limited, which may include site visits, calculations, reports, drawings, and professional engineering advice.
Deliverables:
Any reports, calculations, drawings, plans, or other documents produced by Paddick Engineering Limited as part of the Services.
Contract:
The legally binding agreement formed when you accept a quotation issued by Paddick Engineering Limited or instruct us to commence work.
Consumer:
An individual acting wholly or mainly for personal purposes outside their trade, business, or profession, entitled to protections under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Business Customer:
A person or organisation engaging our Services for commercial, trade, or professional purposes.
3. Our Role and Obligations
Paddick Engineering Limited provides professional engineering services directly to Customers. We are responsible for carrying out the agreed Services with reasonable care and skill in accordance with UK law, relevant standards, and current regulations.
Our obligations include:
Carrying out structural assessments and inspections
Preparing accurate and compliant engineering calculations, designs and reports
Producing clear and professional Deliverables
Maintaining appropriate professional insurance
Communicating clearly and professionally throughout the project
We reserve the right to decline work if it falls outside our expertise or scope. In such cases, any fees paid in advance for work not undertaken will be refunded.
4. Customer Responsibilities
The Customer agrees to:
Provide accurate, complete, and timely information
Ensure safe and timely access to the site
Respond promptly to requests for information or approval
Use Deliverables only for the project for which they were prepared
Make payments in accordance with agreed terms
Failure to meet these obligations may result in delays or additional charges.
5. Quotes and Formation of Contract
All quotations are based on the information provided by the Customer. Quotes are valid for 7 days unless otherwise stated.
A Contract is formed when:
Any changes to the scope of work may require a revised quotation.
6. Fees and Payment Terms
All fees are quoted in GBP (£)
Payment terms will be specified in the quotation
Payment is usually required once designs, reports or calculations have been issued unless agreed otherwise
Fees are exclusive of VAT unless stated
Late payments may delay delivery of Services or Deliverables.
7. Cancellation and Termination
Consumers:
You have the right to cancel within 14 days of accepting a quote under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you request work to begin within this period, you agree to pay for work completed up to the cancellation date.
After Work Has Started:
If the Customer cancels after work has commenced, fees will be payable for work completed and any non recoverable costs incurred.
8. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality
All Deliverables remain the intellectual property of Paddick Engineering Limited unless otherwise agreed in writing.
You are granted a licence to use the Deliverables solely for the specific project for which they were produced.
All client information is treated as confidential and will only be disclosed where necessary to provide the Services or where required by law.
9. Liability and Insurance
We hold appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Our liability is limited to the provision of the Services agreed under the Contract.
10. Consumer Rights
Consumers are entitled to statutory rights, including:
Services performed with reasonable care and skill
Services matching their description
Fair pricing and transparent information
Appropriate remedies if Services do not meet legal standards
Nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
11. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you have a complaint, please contact us directly. We aim to resolve all issues promptly and fairly.
If a dispute cannot be resolved, we may suggest Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Ultimately, disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
13. General Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our Services constitutes acceptance of any updated Terms.
You may not transfer your rights under this Contract without our written consent.
